Our minds have the ability to accept as truth any criticisms that we think about ourselves, but positive affirmations can help us to overcome those negative thoughts.
The words that we say and think about ourselves have a way of perpetuating themselves in our life. If you are thinking negative thoughts they seem to magically come true in our daily lives. If we continually tell ourselves and others that failure is the only option, we or they are not good enough this then becomes our reality. The subconscious mind accepts what we say and think as truth no matter how negative and hurtful, however we also have the ability to change that by changing the way we think and speak. This can be accomplished with positive thoughts and words through affirmations.
Affirmation are positive statements that we can create, speak and think on a daily basic. Once they enter our consciousness they have no choice but to then become part of our subcounscious minds. It is there that they have the power to change our lives. What the subconsious believes the conscious has no choice but to achieve it!
Your affirmations should be positive, specific and not too long or wordy so that you can learn and recite them daily. They should be in the present tense as if were already a true statement of what you have in life. Focus on what you want in life or a specific goal or that you ARE in control. And rather than state that you want something make the statement positive and current that you already have that something.
As your subconscious becomes programmed to accept these postivie thoughts you will being to live as if. As if it were already so. And very soon it will be. The reality of your life will begin to reflect what you have told it is so. Revert to your new positive affirmations everytime you begin to go back to your negative thinking patterns. Carry your affirmations with you written down on a 3x5 card or in a daily planner or whatever you can carry with you every day. As you continue to repeat these affirmations they will grow stronger within your consciousness to override old negative thoughts and feelings. These new, positive thoughts will motivate you to take action in their direction.
Affirmation ARE a powerful tool to Create A New Life. By speaking and thinking positive affirmations we invite those opportunities into our life that will help to make them a reality.

One more bridge to cross is what my mother said as we were coming down the west coast of Florida on our annual mother-daughter Florida winter trip in March. Many rivers and streams flow into the Gulf of Mexico so there were a lot of bridges! This got me thinking. How many bridges have we already crossed in life to get to where we are today? There always seems to be one more bridge to cross to get to our destination. Will we never get there?
Where or what is it we are trying to get to? Are we always looking for the next bridge? And what is that bridge keeping us from? Will we even know when we've crossed the last bridge?
Lots of stuff came to mind when she made that statement, especially since I am in the midst of some big things coming into my life. The house that we have been planning for the last 20 years is finally into the final stages of fruition and we keep crossing tiny bridges to get to the end of that road.
In life we cross many "bridges"; experiences that get us to the next phase of life. But how often do we put up emotional "bridges" that keep us from getting to the next phase or the level? Too often the things that are keeping us back are self made. We sometimes set ourselves up to fail or be held back by building an imaginary bridge that we think we need to get over to move on. I have often told clients and students that if you can't get home the way you normally go because of an accident or impasse on the road, wouldn't you find another way? A detour? That is what happens in our thinking and the end result of a goal that we have set. If the first method doesn't work then it is time to find another way. Another route to get over the bridge.
The other way of thinking about bridges is that they are way to get over something that you wouldn't normally be able to get across or that would be hazardous or impossible to get across without the bridge. So the positive side of a bridge is that it is there to help you overcome obstacles. So no matter how many bridges you have to cross, they are there to get you safely around or over the obstacle.
As with any of our issues in life, there is always another way of looking at them. It is true that sometimes bad things do happen; things that we have no control over. That doesn't mean that we need to let the bad thing keep us from staying on course. There is always the next bridge to cross. The bridge that gets us over the defeat or inconvenience.
Think of the bridge not as one more to cross but as a shorter path to get to where you want to go. A way to avoid challenges and move on to the next step.
So I've made this commitment to a 30 Day Blogging Challenge, but today is just one of those days! I have no desire to write about any of the things that I could possibly tell you about. In fact the only reason that I am typing this now is because of the challenge. So let me tell you why I have no desire to write anything today.
1. It was raining today and I was stuck in the house.
2. I was not at my house.
3. I had to look for a new car. I love my current car and do not want to look for a new car.
4. The sun finally came out after I got home.
5. It was still too cold and damp to work in my gardens.
6. The computer that I log into for my bookkeeping job froze on me and it is 1000 miles away from me and the office guys who could look at it are 3000 miles away on another job!
7. The was no dry wood to make my evening fire - see #1.
8. My house is still not completely done and now there is a mess in the only bathroom that has my nice soaking tub.
9. I am still up and I have 3 clients in the morning between 9-12.
10. After driving home and then driving from car dealers I was pooped.
BUT, I have decided there are still things to be grateful for.
1. The sun did come out eventually.
2. Got stuff done where I was even though it wasn't my house.
3. My husband did get the tile done in the new house.
4. I have a house!
5. We had food on the table for supper.
6. My husband did find enough dry wood for my evening fire in the new fireplace in the new house.
7. I have a car.
8. I have clients.
9. I have a career that keeps me busy, in fact several!
10. I love my family.
So now you know what to Blog when you don't feel like blogging.
Life is very interesting when you come to think about it!

I have received my "Leonie" workbooks in the last week or so and I am getting ready to plan my 2016 year for my Business and my Life and the following post came up this morning about planning. Thought I would share what someone on our group shared:

Over the years I have been a planner in my head rather than on paper, which has worked for me until now. I am at a stage in my life where I am ready for a change. And I'm not talking about the career changes I have made in the past but rather about a life change. I'm ready to be "on the mountain" putzing around in my kitchen, helping others with their life challenges, doing a few massages each week, teaching a class or two each month and selling my "stuff" via Etsy or Paypal or my new website. I think that I am finally ready to "settle down" so to speak. Been mentally planning this for some time but now it is time to get it down on paper and make it happen. Without stressing over the fact that there are many different directions I want to go in!
I want to be active without spending a lot of time away from my new house. Obviously I will let you know how it goes on this blog!
SO a few months later I indeed have filled in some of my workbooks and am currently working through a Blog Challenge which today includes ways to plan and create a blog editorial calendar. Well, planning is absolutely not my forte even though I talk about planning and setting goals in many of the classes that I teach. But with this blog post, I am committed to doing better.
Planning can sometimes go wrong or go bad or go by the wayside. Don't let it happen to you. I now have extra tables, an excel worksheet and someone to keep me accountable. Things are starting to happen in my life that have been "planned" and are many years in the making. Write down the plan and work the plan and the plan will work for you. Even though it make take more time than you originally "planned"! It is my humble opinion that every plan that you make as a thought in your head will, through the efforts of your subconscious mind, come to pass. Keep with the system and keep planning!
It has recently occurred to me that all of the great scholars, lecturers and sages were saying the exact same thing. So it is nothing new or even revolutionary what the newest New Age thinkers are saying because they are saying the exact same thing. It just needs to be said in different ways so that everyone can get it. In other words, I'm saying The Law of Attraction is not new!
It is that what you think you become. If you think you can you can, if you think you can't, you're right too. Whatever you put out is what you will get back. Nothing new. It's all the same and it applies to whatever you put your mind to. It doesn't matter what business you are in - whatever you put out will come back to you.
Napoleon Hill Made it 15 lessons, Jack Canfield made it into Chicken Soup, Steven Covey gave us 7 Habits, Depak Chopra gave us 20 Spiritual Laws and Rhonda Byrne told us The Secret. Wayne Dyer told us to Believe it Before We can See It, while Mike Dooley gives us Infinite Possibilities and Napoleon Hill told us to Think and Grow Rich through the Laws of Success.
It all comes back to the same thing. Heck even the Bible told us about the Golden Rule when Jesus told us to do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Confucius said do not do to other people what you do not want them to do to you. It's the Golden f****** rule! Do unto others as you would have them do to you in the same exact circumstance. So put out to the Universe what you would like to get back
What does this mean? It means you need to think before you do anything. There is the word - THINK. You can know everything about anatomy. You can know everything about physiology. You can know everything about psychology. It all comes down to what you think. And I don't think anyone can really tell us how the mind works. REALLY!
Just like the circuits in a computer, the human mind is programmed based on what it's programmers have told it what to do. And who are it's programmers, well we are a part of the program but we are not the only ones that program our brain. Parents, teachers, siblings, friends, books we've read, the news we watch - all of these program a part of our brain based on what we accept as truth.
So why do you think what you think? Because of the way you were raised, the things that were put into your head as you were growing up. We come out of the womb with the universal truths and universal energy and universal knowledge. But then, based on the life and family and government and religion we were born into some of the truths left us. The belief systems that were taught to us by those people and institutions bring us to where we are today. And what we think we become (Buddha). In order to change what you think you need to change some of those beliefs.
And this is where the Law of Attraction comes in because what we believe as truth is the way we will think and thus what we will attract to us. Where this seems to not work is when what we really want does not seem to be attracted to us. So, does the Law of Attraction not work? Is it really just a made up concept of New Age thinkers? Have others really not been saying the same thing all along. Well yes and no. The Law of Attraction has always been around but New Age "scholar" have just brought it out more into the mainstream and in their own way teachers for centuries have been saying the same thing. And yes sometimes it doesn't work because we sabotage it. More about that tomorrow!
Coming together is a beginning.
Napoleon Hill said that cooperation is the beginning of all organized effort. Whenever people come together to achieve something they are cooperating. We've heard about Co-ops, maybe we've even joined one at some time in our lives. This is people coming together to share goods or services or maybe to be able to share expenses of a rental space. In all case these are people that are cooperating with each other for the benefit of all.
The best part of this section in the book for me is when Mr. Hill begins to talk about how our conscious and subconcious minds work. I do teach anatomy after all! Plus he talks about how the cooperation between the conscious and subconcious minds gives us the ability to contact, communicate with and draw upon infinite intelligence.
You can do it, if you believe you can!
Dr. Wayne Dyer has a book called "You'll See It When You Believe It". This book is from 1989 and reiterates what Napoleon Hill says in his book, The Law of Success. You must keep your thoughts on your Definite Purpose and in cooperation with others with whom you are working to achieve your goals and the cooperation between your conscious and sub-conscious minds it will be achieved.
In the book Hill talks about the Law of the Master Mind when he talks about the cooperation of people who come together for the purpose of reaching a specific goal. When a number of people get together and focus their thoughts and resources on a given outcome they have a greater chance of success in achieving the desired end result. So it is within each of us if we keep both our mental and physical thoughts and actions on the desired outcome.
In the body exists many systems that come together to create the harmony and balance referred to in Anatomy classes as homeostasis. Most people know about the physical aspects of the body that we can see or that are affected by disease or misuse. This are the bones, the muscles, skin and the internal organs. Many people are only aware of the Nervous System when sickness or stress affect it. What most of us do know about the Nervous System is that it is the brain, the spinal cord and all the nerves that come from the spinal cord to our muscles and organs. These nerves control every aspect of each and every movement of our body including how our heart beats and we digest the food we eat. Hearing, seeing and tasting are all controlled by these nerves. We walk and talk because of nerves that process information. When you touch something hot, it is the brain (the Nervous System) that responds and in that split second tells you to pull away.
In the book, The Law of Success, Mr. Hill spends a lot of time talking about what he refers to as the "subjective mind" and the "objective mind" and what parts of the brain and therefore the Nervous System that they belong to. He is talking about subconscious and the conscious mind respectively.
I am not qualified to talk about the portions of the brain but I can talk about the Nervous System and the Sympathetic and Parasympathetic portions of it. These two parts of the Nervous System are what control all of our body processes. Every action that we take is controlled either voluntarily (we make a decision) or involuntarily (the Nervous System makes the decision). This is the cooperation that Hill talks about in the book and what I would like to spend a little bit of time talking about here.
What I want to explain is how the conscious (subjective) mind controls the subconscious (objective) mind. In the medical field the subject is the patient, the person telling why they are at the doctors office, while the object is what the Doctor or Nurse writes on the chart in order to make a decision about the patient. The same thing applies to the conscious and subconscious minds.
The Conscious Mind
The Conscious Mind is the thinking mind. This is where you either accept or reject an idea. This part of your mind is conditioned or taught over your lifetime and is influenced by every aspect of your life from the day that you were born. In my Infinite Possibilities classes it is where we hold our Beliefs. Those things that we believe are true. These things guide us through life, regardless if they really are true or not! Those ideas, thoughts or beliefs that you accept become part of the subconscious mind. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!
The Subconscious Mind
The Subconscious Mind is the conditioned mind. Every cell in your body functions based on what the subconscious mind is programmed to do. This part of your mind has no ability to reject what the conscious mind has accepted. This is the part that is the player in "The Law of Attraction" It operates predictably in all instances. It is expressed by our feelings and actions. Any conscious thought is continuously impressed upon your subconscious over and over until it becomes fixed here and in your personality. Fixed ideas then continue to express themselves without any conscious assistance until you replace them. These fixed ideas are called Habits.
Therefore if you want to change your habits you have to change your beliefs and the way to do that is to reprogram what your Conscious Mind accepts as truth. It is through the Cooperation of these two parts of your mind that you can achieve your Definite Purpose, that Goal that Napoleon Hill sets forth as the first thing you need to get set in your mind.
